Green Taxis
![]() |
Did you know that you could support clean air initiatives in North Texas every time you decide to take a taxi? There area few companies in the D-FW region that are considered “green” taxis by the North Central Texas Council of Governments. These taxis may be hybrid vehicles or alternative fuel vehicles.
For a list of taxi companies that own ‘green’ vehicles, visit the North Texas Green & Go website.
All you have to do is request a green cab to pick you up when you call. Green taxi fares are the same as regular taxi fares.
Cabs at Dallas Love Field Airport
Cabs that run on CNG, compressed natural gas get a “head-of-the-line” advantage at Dallas Love Field. Vehicles that operate on CNG contribute less to local and regional air pollution than traditional vehicles and assist in reducing problems such as smog, haze, and adverse health affects attribute to air pollution. Thousands of gallons of gasoline are saved. Given their high- mileage and the congested conditions in which they operate, taxis can play an important part in reducing emissions to help clean the air.
Click here to read the ordinance pertaining to taxi cabs at Dallas Love Field. The purpose of this ordinance is to provide an incentive to promote the use of CNG vehicles in the D-FW region to minimize air pollution, protect public health, and the support the State Implementation Plan (SIP), that is required for all ozone non attainment areas to demonstrate how ozone will be reduced.
