Great Trinity Adventure Hike
6900 Bexar Street
9 AM

The 3rd Annual Great Trinity Adventure Hike is an orienteering style event presented by
the Trinity River Corridor Project and the North Texas Orienteering Association.  Orienteering is a cross country race where participants use a map and compass to navigate between checkpoints along an unfamiliar course.  Adventure Hike participants will use a network of trails and topographic maps to navigate to more than a half-dozen “Wolf pack” Trees.  The Wolf pack is a collection of more than 70 unique trees in the Trinity Forest. Participants can stay on the trails for an hour to try to visit all of the trees in the two hour time limit for the event. The entire trail is six miles and each tree will be marked with a typical orienteering-control bag.  The navigation will be at the “beginners” level and requires no previous orienteering experience.  Experienced NTOA volunteers will present navigation clinics prior to the event.  Awards and prizes will be handed out for participants who gain points by visiting the most spots.

To Register: online at North Texas Orienteering Association or register in person on event day before 8:30 AM. The event is free and open to the public.

Featured Speaker: Arthur Nickerson, Master Composter and Master Naturalist

Composting is the cornerstone of organic gardening and is great whether you’re trying to grow beautiful flowers or great produce.  Organically grown produce has more flavor, is healthier for you and it costs a lot less than the vegetables you buy at the grocery store.  Learn how to convert “yard wastes” into compost, how to build your own inexpensive compost bin, how to manage your pile for optimum results and how to use your compost in your garden or landscape. Class is free, but RSVPs required.

March 22nd is World Water Day
